Abstract:
On November 21, 1836, T.B. Linnard was appointed aide-de-camp to Brevet Maj. Gen Thomas Sidney Jesup, with the responsibility to assist him in his duties as Quartermaster General, to transmit orders and collect information. April 1837 at Ft. Brooke, Jesup wrote to J.R. Poinsett, Sec. of War, that he had very little information of the interior of Florida, and that he had directed his Aid de Camp, Lieut. Linnard, to collect and arrange such data as are accessible ... . -- Introd., p. 2
